In the extended message, ‘Meatball’ had this to say about moving from the flyweight division to strawweight: McCann has the potential to solidify herself as a contender in the strawweight division. Assuming she can safely cut down to 115 pounds, ‘Meatball’ could prove that her power can be a problem for anyone in the strawweight division. McCann’s move down to strawweight will be a drastic change she hasn’t done in her nineteen-fight professional MMA career. Since making her UFC debut in May 2018, ‘Meatball’ has been a mainstay in the flyweight division, leading to a 6-5 promotional record.
“We have one more adjustment to make and I believe that will make all the difference in the world, the smallest in the division makes it tough when the opponents are so much bigger. So for me it’s time to drop down and face the girls who are the same size!”
